Properties and Uses

Decoction with heartwood is used in the treatment of diabetes where it reduces frequency of micturition and is said to reduce blood sugar level. Bark and gum due to their astringent action are used in the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery especially in women and children. Also used in haemoptysis and haematemesis. Also used in treatment of fractures to promote faster healing. It has curetting action and used in the treatment of obesity. External application with leaves is used in skin diseases due to its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Oil medicated with it is used in graying of hair.
