Properties and Uses

Its root skin is effective in the treatment of oedematous conditions. It relieves dyspepsia, excessive thirst and hyperacidity. Due to astringent action it is effective in the treatment of diarrhoea, dysentery and bleeding piles. Flowers are used to relieve hiccups. It acts as cough expectorant. It is beneficial in treatment of fevers and relieves burning sensation. It has diuretic action therefore used in treatment of urinary calculus. Flowers have nourishing properties hence used in general debility and as an aphrodisiac.
