Properties and Uses

It stimulates salivary glands and increases salivary secretions which help in cleansing of mouth. Due to aromatic contents it relieves foul smell. It relieves intestinal gas and acts as Carminative. Due to digestive properties and cooling character it acts as potent antacid. It has expectorant action therefore is effective in respiratory conditions. Its oil is used for external application in sciatica and rheumatoid arthritis. It has analgesic and anthelmintic properties and especially used in toothache and other painful conditions for external application. It has blood cleansing and anti-pyretic properties. It has stimulating effect on kidney and hence acts as diuretic.
