Properties and Uses

It induces salivary secretions and increases blood circulation in mouth. It relieves the foul smell from the mouth due to its aromatic contents. It induces secretion of digestive enzymes and hence acts as an appetizer and digestive. It relieves flatulence by increasing peristalsis. It has stimulating effect on heart. It is an effective cough expectorant and hence used in respiratory disorders like asthma. It has diuretic action and has cooling character. Its ointment is used in wounds. It is mixed with massage oils used in rheumatoid arthritis. It is used as local analgesic agent in toothache.
