There are various aspects associated with each of the three doshas such as tastes, character (heavy, light etc.), texture (oily, rough etc.). Foods can therefore be classified as per doshas. Following a diet according to dosha implies following a diet that keeps the three doshas in balance. This is necessary because, depending on seasons or even states of disease, one, two or all three doshas may have a tendency to be aggravated. Following a diet as per dosha is therefore recommended to maintain equilibrium in the body and thereby ensure good health.
