Properties and Uses

It has mild purgative action. It increases peristaltic movements of colon by irritant action on mucosa which results in watery stools. It relieves flatulence as well. When given in large doses it causes spasmodic pains. It is commonly used to treat constipation. It is commonly used herb in purgation treatment. It has some anthelmintic properties as well hence used in worm infestation. Leaves are used for external application in skin diseases.
