Properties and Uses

Castor oil has laxative action along with digestive properties hence used in the diseases with impaired digestion and where purgation is preferred treatment modality. It is commonly used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, liver ailments, piles and constipation. It is used in worm infestation due to anthelmintic and laxative action. It has nourishing and analgesic action on nervous system hence used in the treatment of neuromuscular diseases like palsies, sciatica, Parkinsonism. It is used both internally and externally (massage with oil) in these conditions. It acts as an aphrodisiac.
