Properties and Uses

It has carminative and digestive properties; it induces the secretion of bile therefore used in treatment of digestive disorders, bile stones, flatulence. It acts as cough expectorant and used in respiratory disorders especially asthmatic conditions. It has strong alkaline nature and diuretic properties hence used in conditions of acidic urine, urinary calculus (stones) and other urinary system disorders. Powdered seeds are used in formulations for nasal inhalations. Its external application is used in inflammatory and painful conditions.
