It has stimulating action on uterus, increases its contraction, and restores the strength of uterine muscle due to astringent nature. Effective in treatment of vaginal discharge and menorrhagia. It has stimulating effect on ovaries as well. It is popularly used medicinal plant in gynecological problems. It is used in treatment of diarrhoea, dysentery and haemoptysis. Seeds have diuretic action hence used in the treatment of urinary calculus. It has analgesic effect on nervous system.
