Unripe fruit acts as an appetizer and restores taste. Ripe fruit has laxative action. It has coagulative properties hence used in haemoptysis and haematemesis. Leaves have anti-emetic action. Inflorescence, bark and seed marrow has astringent nature hence used for treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. Ripe fruit has nourishing properties hence used in general debility and fatigue; it also acts as an aphrodisiac. Cold beverage made from raw fruit is effective in heat strock.
