Guggulkalpa

Guggul i.e. Commiphora wightti gives out a Niryas which is used as a major ingredient in Guggulkalpas. This Niryas is a secretion that oozes out from the Guggul plant twice in a year. Once in the winter and the second time in the summer. Guggul is added to various Choornas and at time Bhasmas, to form an Amalgam which then can be molded into tablets. Guggul not only works as a binding agent but also has its own medicinal qualities.

At Shree Dhootapapeshwar Ltd. we follow stringent quality control measures. Guggul has to undergo Samanya and Vishesh Shodhan before using it into medicines. Guggul is collected from a good quality source and is standardized by TLC Fingerprinting, HPTLC and Optical density. This good quality Guggul is subjected to controlled temperature, is continuously stirred and then filtered by > 300 mesh to form Samanya Shodhit Guggul. Changes are noted in the HPTLC and optical density to standardize the process of Samanya Shodhan.

Vishesh Shodhan is a process carried out on Samanya Shodhit Guggul with Kwath or decoctions of dravyas like Amruta, Triphala, Dashamool or Gomootra. Vishesh Shodhan does potentisation which is standardized by HPTLC and optical density. Vishesh Shodhan makes the Guggulkalpa more potent and efficacious. Presently there are 14 Guggulkalpas which are prepared and standardized by Shree Dhootapapeshwar Ltd.
